Wekie Education continues to evolve with time as they implement more ways to connect with their target audiences. Instead of just making contactless payment easier, they went an extra mile to create an App that allows parents to have easy access to their children’s information. With a content structure framework in mind, they engaged us to help build the user interface design and experience for Wekie App.
The App needs to be easy to navigate and locate information for different usage and purpose. We used visual design as a tool to plan out the navigation to ensure the best user experience. The use of colours as a visual tool to section functions and the application of Wekie’s brand characters to enhance interaction were all put into play, adapting from Wekie’s new branding. Then, we added the unique feature for parents to track children’s progress with Wekie’s character growth as they continue learning with Wekie. The final touch of the App was to give it a name that is easy to remember and relate, namely the Wekie App, where it ties in all visual elements to further strengthen the brand’s visual identity.
Once the Wekie App is ready to launch, we developed a campaign with the objective to inform parents the purpose of the App and how it benefits them. It included demonstrations of App functions that parents can locate useful information, instead of relying on handouts, teachers or children passing down messages or even through WhatsApp messages. To ensure effective communication, we first rolled out a series of teasers on Facebook and WhatsApp to draw parents’ attention to Facebook. We also made sure that the teachers were involved so parents would see familiar faces. As part of the App launch, we integrated all platforms to roll out a series of FAQs in the form of digital visuals and videos on all digital touchpoints, as well as handout brochure, flyers and in-centre medias that direct to a dedicated landing page that explains why and how to use the App.
The launch was followed by a series of reminders that prompted parents to download the App. 90% of the parents have downloaded and used the App within a month after the launch. Now, the Wekie App has become one of Wekie Arithmetic’s unique selling points that allows them to stand out amongst the competition.
